Merry Christmas Readers!

Here’s wishing all our readers (no matter where you are in the World) a ‘Merry Christmas, Peace and Happiness” for the holidays.

Except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, we’re staying open to continue to bring daily local news, though posts may be intermittent for the next week whilst we spend quality time with family.

Hope you’ve enjoyed our efforts throughout 2023, which for the 13th year has brought accurate, reliable and prompt local news as it happens. Thank you to all 24,000 followers including hundreds of subscribers for your continued, appreciated support. This page remains free, friendly and informative often breaking local stories even before ‘proper real’ media sources do, and as our readers poll last week showed, is the leading source of how Blantyre people get their news, with an audience rivalling professional news outlets throughout Central Scotland.

Our social media “insight stats” are absolutely staggering for 2023 reaching far around the world, with an engaged audience and a noticeable spike in the number of people following nearby in East Kilbride, Cambuslang and Hamilton.

Thank you again to the HUGE network of individuals, businesses and organisations behind the scenes. People who are quick to share events, provide press releases, news and photos as they happen (you know who you are), which is sincerely appreciated. Without them, the page would never achieve the success it has. Thanks also to Live Chat moderators Andrew and Ruth who have helped maintain order and group rules.

Of course, a reminder that Blantyre Telegraph exists to raise funds for local good causes. That’s mostly why we do this and we’re pleased to announce that as of today, Telegraph has raised £52,252 smashing through the £50,000 milestone since fundraising started! Thank you to everybody who has ever helped us raise money here, for your donations and efforts. You can see transparently how this was spent here to 302 good causes: https://theblantyretelegraph.com/raised/

We keep nothing. Not one penny with everything going to local good causes. Despite running Telegraph only in spare time (evenings and weekends) outwith a demanding full time job, motivation continues with the utmost pride of what’s been accomplished here.

Our incredible charitable Supporters Group has seen thousands of extra exclusive posts, alerts and articles, giving those people the news first, with Supporters subscribing for just a small monthly charge for good causes. It’s making a huge difference to local causes and if you’re not already a subscriber, please consider doing so for the community in 2024. https://www.facebook.com/groups/blantyretelegraphsupporters

remember….It’s YOU who have made Blantyre Telegraph such a success.

Thanks everybody for being SO engaging, kind and appreciative and for your continued interest. From me [Paul V] to you, I wish you all, a Merry Christmas!
