How about this for a great photo! This is local woman Lilian Miller who is 98 years old and has lived in Blantyre for almost 50 years. A fantastic age, made all the more remarkable that in this photo is FIVE generations of the same family!
Pictured recently at a family Easter celebration, her daughter Linda is also in the photo, the mother of Susan (who lives in Rothesay) and her oldest daughter Juliane who met her husband in Vancouver where she was working. They got married 2 years ago and live in Luncarty, Perth and had the youngest member of the family, Aurora in November 2023.
So, FIVE generations with little Aurora incredibly pictured at her great grandmother’s home.
Lilian married her husband Robert in 1948 when she met him in the army in Germany, with Robert being a sergeant in post war times. They had four children Christine, Linda, Lilian and one son Robert. She has seven grandchildren Susan, Judith, Amanda, Mark, Steven, David and Robert. Nine, great grandchildren Juliane, Kyrie, jade, Caleb, Jared, Charlie, Evie, Liam and Maisie. One great great granddaughter Aurora and a great great grandson due in September!
Lilian worked in Bellshill Maternity until she retired when she was 60, then worked in Oxfam till she was in her 70’s. Lilian is clearly much loved and by all accounts a great influence to all the family.
