Well done to local woman Karen Muir who has been raising money for the Beatson and St Andrews Hospice.
Karen, who was treated last year for her own cervical cancer had a LOT of help and is looking to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all the kind people and thoughtful businesses who helped with the recent successful fundraiser on Sunday 5th May.
Karen told Blantyre Telegraph, “Thank you my bestie 0’Pauline Lynn, cousins, Rosie Foley, Donna Urbanik, Andrea Yoker, Linda Duncan and friends Jennifer McAveety, and Frances Goldie.”
Karen added, “Further thanks goes out to:
Freda Lindsay from The village bar – thank you for the wonderful buffet which you gifted.
To Stevie and the band The Beat sons from The Newton Arms, you were amazing, the hall was rocking!!
Robert Low the best DJ there is for donating this time and supporting
Claire Murray & Wull Murray the stunning balloon arch
Calligraphy by Tricia for the gorgeous welcome board

Leslie the face painter who did more adults than children I think and she was so talented “
Donations for the auction/raffle:
Jennifer Harkins Permanent Cosmetics
And lots of other individuals who donated bottles of alcohol, also slow cookers, toastie machines make up, and multiple other things.
Karen added, “I could not have battled cancer without the support of my friends and family and I could not have raised so much without the support of everybody mentioned here. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
There’s still time to donate and help this cause. Karen has a Justgiving page which incredibly has raised over £3,320. https://www.justgiving.com/page/karen-alexis-muir-1707308022701
