Robert’s Munro Success

Local man Robert McSkimming has fulfilled one of his life ambitions in successfully climbing ALL 282 Munros in Scotland.

Robert (37) completed this monumental challenge with his beloved four legged companion, his husky, ‘Bauer’. It’s no small feat to climb these mountains, let alone climbing them all!

Munros are mountains that are at least 3,000 feet (914.4 meters) high and are named after Sir Hugh Munro, who first compiled a list of them in 1891. Climbing all of them is a popular challenge for hikers and mountaineers, known as “Munro bagging.”

After scaling 281 of them, his last Munro climb on Saturday there was in memory of his gran who sadly passed away at the end of last year. Robert had actually been on his way to climb that particular mountain when he decided to turn back on that sad day, deciding later to save this last climb until later.

Getting round to the last climb on Saturday there, Robert spoke of his sentimental return to this location and of his accomplishment adding, “It was nice to go back here in a good place and with my close people and finish the job it somehow means a lot more to me than getting the 282”

“So happy everybody had a belter of a day and weekend it will sit with me for the rest of my life!”

Well done Robert! I hope you find a few moments now to relax.
