GP Racing Simulators

GP Racing Simulators is now open in Playsport, Stewartfield, East Kilbride.

Now officially open to the public, gaming and racing fans from teenagers to adults will be able to take part in a hyper realistic motorsport experience, from driving practice circuits to competing in immersive Grand Prix inspired races, while enjoying the bar and relaxed surroundings post-race.

Formula One Esports champion Lucas Blakeley, Formula One Sim Racing World Championship McLaren Shadow Driver Wilson Hughes and Caledonia Gladiators player Oscar Baldwin were among the VIPs to test out the kit first hand ahead of the official launch.

Representing a £500,000 investment and creating job opportunities locally, GP Racing Simulators spans 3,600 square feet and was designed in collaboration with architects Holmes Miller. It incorporates 10 professional grade racing simulators, each equipped with a racing seat, steering wheel, pedals and a 43” monitor.

The simulators use the only haptic system licensed by the FIA, the governing body of motorsports worldwide, and this professional grade motion technology combined with virtual reality headset technology, used by brands such as Boeing and Volvo, makes for a world-class experience.

GP Racing Simulators is a concept from former British and Scottish Championship karting winner Ben Lambie. Inspired by his junior karting career, Ben is bringing his real-life experience on the racing circuit to Scotland, offering not only a highly realistic experience, but also a fun day out.

Director of GP Racing Simulators, Ben Lambie, said: “It was great to welcome friends, family and icons from the esports racing community to our test event and now be able to officially open the doors to the general public.

“We’ve collaborated with world-class experts in the industry to build GP Racing Simulators which I believe offers an unrivalled motorsport experience here in Scotland. I’m proud of what we’ve created and look forward to what the future holds for us here at Playsport.”

GP Racing Simulators is open from 12pm Wednesday-Friday and from 10am Saturday-Sunday. Prices start from £18 for a 20-minute session, no advance booking necessary.
