Exclusive: Planning Granted at Larkfield

Hot off the press! South Lanarkshire Council have this week approved planning for the redevelopment of the Larkfield Bing and securing a future for Larkfield Hall, Blantyre.

Following a successful planning application, Blantyre Soccer Academy’s proposals have now been approved with the formation of football pitches and sports facilities going ahead.

Consent for the development to progress also includes the installation of new lighting, the refurbishment and extension of Larkfield Hall, formation of additional parking, the realignment and improvement of paths, erection of fencing and associated improvements.

The Larkfield Hall and Bing is situated just off Stonefield Road and for many years has been neglected, almost derelict and in recent times, not maintained properly. The new plans secure a future for this land, putting the area back to use, right in the heart of Blantyre.

BSA Charperson Jimmy Whelan told Blantyre Telegraph this evening, “BSA has worked tirelessly on the Larkfield project, overcoming every obstacle in our path.”

“It’s fantastic to see us granted planning consent and moving closer to making our dream a reality. We are looking forward to receiving our keys from the council to commence our works.”
