Community Gets Behind Scout Survey

There’s less than a week to go until a survey on new accommodation for the Third Blantyre Scout Group (TBSG) closes on 15 September.

Many local people have already taken part in the survey on moving the group from its current location in David Livingstone Memorial Church Hall to the unused High Blantyre Cemetery Hall, as part of a Community Asset Transfer from South Lanarkshire Council.

Chris McCrory, Scout Group Leader, is delighted with the response so far. He said, “The community has really gotten behind this, as we knew they would, and we’d like to thank all those who have completed our questionnaire up to now – we really appreciate it.”

“The greater the participation, the stronger our application and chance of success will be. That’s why we’re encouraging anybody who hasn’t responded yet to do so by midnight on Sunday 15 September, please. We had a drop-in session at Asda on Saturday at which the response from the local community was incredibly supportive. “For anyone who would like to know more, we’ve got a drop-in session coming up at, High Blantyre Cemetery Hall on Saturday 14 September from 10:00am to 1.00pm.”

“Everyone is welcome – whether you’re a local resident or a community group interested in potentially sharing use of the new hall, we’re keen to talk to you.”
