Solar Plans Approved

Planning permission has now been granted by South Lanarkshire Council for the installation of solar panels at David Livingstone Birthplace.

The plans will allow for solar energy panels on the Africa pavilion building within the grounds of the David Livingstone Birthplace, Station Road, Blantyre.

Owners are already in receipt of funding from Museums Galleries Scotland to undertake this work.

Although the museum building – Shuttle Row is a Grade A listed building the pavilion is a new building which has recently been further renovated with a new roof and internal fixings completed in June 2021. The panels will be on the front south facing portion of the roof. Planning ref P/24/0764.
