Popeyes, the well known chicken takeaway is making plans to come to East Kilbride!
Contractors have already set up at the top of the EK Expressway at the former derelict ‘Frankie and Benny’s’ restaurant at Unit 3, Lee Burn Court, Nerston (next to McDonalds and Dominoes) and have commenced stripping out the restaurant ahead of its renovation, which will include a new Drive Through.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, known for its New Orleans-style fried chicken, is expanding in Scotland as part of its broader UK growth strategy. Following its first Scottish opening in Barrhead in 2022, Popeyes now plans new locations in Aberdeen and Glasgow, with Aberdeen’s site on Union Street and a second location on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. Another location at Braehead has also been announced. This expansion is part of Popeyes’ effort to double its UK locations in 2024, aiming to establish 30 new UK outlets and create thousands of jobs across the country.
A statement on their websites says, “At Popeyes UK we are a bunch of big hearted dreamers on a mission to be the most loved chicken brand in the UK, we have a very ambitious growth plan and we want our people to grow with us.”
It is currently unknown when this latest outlet will open but likely to be early 2025.
