Remember we posted about Blantyre’s Tyler Meechan who was heading off to London last weekend to compete at the ITFU Taekwondo European Championships? Well, we have some excellent news all about this talented 11 year old!
Tyler took part in the popular tournament which brought people from all over Europe. She was competing in two divisions the first one being 10/11 year old female 4th – 1st Kup Patterns with 18 in her category, winning 4 rounds to be crowned the ITFU 2024 European Pattern Champion!!
Congratulations! This success meant Tyler kept her title from last year when she was crowned with the same title in Madrid. Tyler then went onto her sparring event where she was competing in the Sparring 10/11 years Female 4th – 1st Kup 130.1cm – 140.1cm division and after 2 fabulous rounds of sparring…… she was also crowned the ITFU 2024 European Sparring Champion title!
Her mother Kirsten told us, “A massive thank you to Scotland ITF for this opportunity and my club instructors Miss Cummings & Mrs Meechan. Two more amazing events to go before the year ends, Tyler has the Professor Chang.Ung Cup this weekend and then she heads off to Holland for the Open Taekyon Tournament alongside her club team mates!”
