Loads of people head for some hillwalking during Christmas holidays. Police Scotland have issued a reminder in interests of safety. Whether you’re bagging a Munro or taking a leisurely stroll this weekend, remember to prepare for Scotland’s often unpredictable weather conditions.
Dress appropriately and pack layers of clothing.
Plan ahead and always tell someone where you’re going.
Daylight hours are shorter, make sure you’re prepared for darkness with torches or headlamps.
Prepare for sudden weather changes like snow, ice, fog, rain and sudden temperature drops.
If conditions are too difficult, turn back.
