Super Swimming Success

We just had to let you know about 2 amazing local youngsters with very big hearts.

This is Oliver Kane and Pippa Forsyth, who are both 9 years old. Like many people, they were moved by our story last week about the community rallying to help Blantyre disabled youngster Ella Rose get the necessary building work to her home.

Well, wanting to do something to help, the youngsters organised a fantastic sponsored swim at Blantyre Leisure Centre and earlier today, Monday 23rd December 24, the completed 100 lengths!! All in aid of raising funds. Pippa even pushed on a bit further to reach 112 lengths! Knowing that Blantyre is a sizeable pool, we both the youngsters did amazingly well! What an effort.

Now even more incredibly, they have so far managed to raise £800!! The sponsorship is still coming in.

Well done Oliver and Pippa! The two of you are superstars and we hope our readers will join us in the comments in congratulating you both.

As an update on the fundraiser for Ella Rose. The family were hoping to raise £8,000, having already secured a builder. As update at time of writing, the target is nearly there with £6,552 raised from nearly 220 donations! With Oliver and Pippa’s donation, the final target is in sight and will mean the Gilbertson house will be able to be converted, making life more conformable for Ella Rose and greatly helping her family. Thee’s still time to donate here https://www.gofundme.com/f/ella-rose-gilbertson
