Railway Disruption

A busy railway line in Glasgow has been closed following an incident in which a person was struck by a train.

ScotRail confirmed that emergency services are attending the scene at Uddingston station.

A spokesperson for National Rail stated: “A person has been hit by a train between Glasgow Central and Motherwell. While emergency services are on-site, all lines between these stations are currently closed.

“Trains operating between Glasgow Central and Larkhall, Motherwell, or Shotts may be subject to cancellation, delays of up to 60 minutes, or alterations.

Additional delays are being caused by earlier damage to overhead electric wires in the Newton (Lanark) area. Disruption is expected to continue until 2pm.
