Broadcaster Jackie Bird, football legend Alan Hansen, and Olympic swimmer Duncan Scott are among the Scots recognized in the New Year Honours.
Jackie Bird, who presented BBC’s Reporting Scotland for nearly three decades, has been awarded an MBE for her contributions to broadcasting and charitable causes.
Alan Hansen, a former footballer and BBC pundit, is regarded as one of Scotland’s greatest players. Having played for Partick Thistle, Liverpool, and the Scottish national team, he has also been appointed an MBE.
Duncan Scott receives an OBE following his historic achievements at Paris 2024, where he became Scotland’s most decorated Olympian with a total of eight medals.
The honours list also celebrates charity fundraisers, healthcare professionals, and notable figures in the arts and music sectors.
