Sainsbury’s has revealed plans to cut 3,000 jobs as it closes its remaining cafés and shuts down its patisserie and pizza counters.
The supermarket stated that the decision aims to “simplify the business”, noting that “the majority of Sainsbury’s most loyal customers do not frequently use the cafés”.
Additionally, Sainsbury’s announced a “20% reduction in senior management roles” is expected over the coming months.
Chief executive Simon Roberts acknowledged the company is operating in a “particularly challenging cost environment”.
