Lidl has today confirmed that its bigger and better Blantyre store on Whistleberry Road will open its doors to customers on Thursday 13th February.
Built on the same site as the original store, which proudly served the community for almost 28 years, the new store offers a significantly upgraded shopping experience.
With a sales area spanning 1,340m², the store is over 30% larger than its predecessor. The revamped Lidl will have the same opening hours: 8am–10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am–8pm on Sundays. To celebrate the launch, shoppers can enjoy Lidl Plus offers and complimentary food sampling throughout the opening weekend.
The upgraded store features an expanded bakery and chiller section, whilst retaining Lidl’s popular middle aisle and award-winning, best-value products. Enhanced facilities include a customer toilet with baby changing amenities, electric vehicle rapid charging points, and solar panels on the roof, helping power the store.
This multi-million-pound investment further benefits the community by creating 10 new roles in addition to welcoming back existing colleagues – all receiving one of the highest rates of pay in the sector.
Ross Jackson, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new state-of-the-art store in Blantyre. This site has been a key part of the community for nearly three decades, and we’re delighted to stay there whilst being able to better meet the needs of locals. We want to thank everyone for their patience during construction and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors – we’re confident they’ll love the upgrades as much as we do.”
For more than three decades, Lidl has continually delivered its unbeatable combination of quality and affordability to shoppers across Scotland. With more customers choosing to shop at Lidl, the discounter has consistently been named the fastest growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket for over a year.
