Serious Assault in Bothwell: Police Seek Witnesses

A manhunt is underway for two individuals who assaulted a 36-year-old man on a footpath in South Lanarkshire.

The attack took place near Main Street, Bothwell, on 15 January at approximately 12:55pm when the victim was approached by two men. They proceeded to assault him, leaving him with serious injuries that required hospital treatment. He was later discharged.

The incident was not reported to police until the following Wednesday.

The suspects are described as being in their late 20s to early 30s, with one carrying a white carrier bag.

Detective Constable Ross Kirkland stated: “Since this assault was reported to police on Wednesday, 22 January, we have been conducting enquiries to gather more details and establish the full circumstances. This has included reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

“I urge anyone who was in the Main Street area at the time of the attack and has any information to come forward. Additionally, if you have dash-cam or private CCTV footage that may assist, please get in touch.”
