A date is now known for the next test of the UKs emergency alert system, to be tested on mobile phones again this September.
The government has confirmed it will take place at 15:00 BST on Sunday, 7th September, when compatible phones will emit a loud siren and vibrate for 10 seconds, even if on silent, displaying a test message on screen.
These alerts are designed to warn the public when there is a serious threat to life, such as severe weather or a terror incident. This will be a test only with no action needed.
