Celebrating Hamilton and Blantyre Litterpickers’ Efforts

A big shout out to Hamilton and Blantyre Litterpickers.

The hard working community group have been out again helping tidy up the area. What’s amazing is that individuals in the group sometimes also go out by themselves, collecting a bag or two of litter, just to keep the area looking as best as it can be. These unsung heroes picking up litter and tidying up on behalf of everybody REALLY make a difference. Earlier last week we were speaking with Blantyre woman, Eleanor Kelly who had been out clearing up High Blantyre. As her pictures show, from Craigmuir Road to Broompark Road, including Kirkton park and behind the shops and the Apollo, a difference was made. Of course, everybody in this group deserves similar credit.

It’s a reminder to everybody that cleaning up the area isn’t just the responsibility of the council. We ALL play a vital and important part in keeping our neighbourhood clean and tidy. Anybody at any time can take pride in their street, wooded areas, path edges and parking areas.
