Spider Season Creeps In

September has arrived, and that means only one thing… Spider Season is officially here!

As evenings turn cooler and the heating goes back on (for those brave enough to press that switch!), house spiders are on the move. This time of year marks their mating season, so the sudden increase in sightings isn’t your imagination. Those big spiders you spot in the bath or scurrying across the carpet are usually males, leaving the safety of their hidden webs in search of a female partner.

Where do they hide the rest of the time? Experts say they favour dark, out-of-reach spots like cracks, behind furniture, and along skirting boards. In fact, it’s thought that each room usually has one “dominant spider” during the season.

👀 Have you seen any in your home yet this year? Share your photos (if you’re brave enough!)
