Good news this weekend filtering through from Councillors, that the play equipment in Springwells, Blantyre is to be reinstalled!
Following a public outcry in recent weeks about the removal of the playground, the council have listened to concerns and with intervention from Cllr Mo Razzaq, new play equipment is confirmed to be installed over the winter period.
In a welcome statement online, Cllr Razzaq added, “This is fantastic news for local families — I know how important this play area is for our community, and I’ll continue working with council officers to make sure the equipment is reinstated as soon as possible.”
“A big thank you to the officers who have worked hard to resolve this issue and also to Michael Shanks MP for his assistance.”
Well done to everybody involved. We hope a regime of maintenance , proper lighting and grass cutting will be associated with this development and the currently derelict park area can be returned to something the community is proud of.
