Though the country pauses at 11am today for a two minutes silence, a reminder that Blantyre’s TWO remembrance outdoor services are on at 3pm today, Sunday 9th November 2025. We’ve had a few messages about this, the community services not to be confused with anything else going on today.
Both services take place at the same time, starting at 3pm at Auchentibber War Memorial and High Blantyre Cemetery (Cemetery Road). Lasting approx half an hour, there will be an opportunity for teas and coffees afterwards at the High Blantyre Hall, courtesy of Blantyre Community Council.
With so many of Telegraph’s followers in different places throughout the world and outwith Blantyre, as always we have arranged for wreaths to be places on behalf of the whole community.
With the kind help of our amazing Supporters Group we organised two hand crafted remembrance wreaths purchased locally from ‘Bitta Bling’ on Stonefield Road, supporting local business. Admittedly, owner Cath tried her absolute best not to take any money for these, but having the budget already there, we wouldn’t hear of it!
One has already been placed at the War Memorial in Auchenitbber and the other will be placed at High Blantyre Cemetery this afternoon. A sentiment on behalf of all 29,939 of Blantyre Telegraph followers, regardless of where you are in the World. Photos of the services will be available later this afternoon.
