Some breaking news for you today! We can reveal that Blantyre’s Christmas lights will be switched on THIS weekend!
High Blantyre is first with the Main Street festive lights and Christmas tree at the cross, being switched on around 7pm this Saturday 15th November!
Then it’s Glasgow Road’s turn on Sunday 16th November with the lights and second tree near the Sports Centre being switched on at 7pm.
Both switch ons in Blantyre are being done quietly and remotely by the council. Many of Lanarkshire’s outdoor switch on events are privately funded and organised by volunteer groups, but for Blantyre, there’s currently no organisation doing this. So another quiet one it is!
We’ll be posting about all the other festive events in and around Blantyre including lights switch on in other towns in the coming weeks.
