Time is ticking towards the end of 3G. Every UK network will by the end of 2025, phase out their 3G services. Some areas have already switched off as their customers now rely on 4G or 5G.
The BIG switch off is coming, and by closing down the 3G network, capacity is freed up for radio frequencies on the 4G and 5G networks, boosting coverage and speed right across the UK.
3G wasn’t really designed for the data hungry services we use today, such as streaming, video calling and gaming. With only a couple of weeks to go, mobile phone users are urged to check their phones are capable of using 4G and 5G and networks are warning, much older phones may not be capable or be able to accommodate the switch.
It may be worth checking not just your phone, but speaking to family members to check theirs too.
