For those travelling through High Blantyre this week, be prepare for some significant disruption.
Major roadworks commence at the High Blantyre Cross this Monday, 23rd February 2026 for 3 weeks, which due to temporary traffic lights will see queues form, especially at peak times. Indeed, if you’re a driver, you may want to avoid the area altogether!
South Lanarkshire Council are working at the junctions of Douglas Street and Hunthill Road. Whilst the road remains open during the works, disruption for drivers is to be expected. Works consists of a full upgrade of existing traffic light signals, kerb relalignment, drainage, carriageway and footpath improvements.
Its hoped the works may be finished earlier than the planned 3 weeks. Signage is already up.
