Garden Waste Permits now available

Garden waste permits can be ordered from South Lanarkshire Council in advance ahead of 1 April 2026 when the new permit comes into effect. Collection crews will only empty garden waste from burgundy bins which display a valid garden waste permit.

You can order your permit online at: https://orlo.uk/garden-waste-permit_hYWxG

You will receive a permit to put on your burgundy bin. The 12-month subscription applies from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

The service will start on 1 April 2026 for those who have subscribed. If you have not signed up and your bin contains garden waste, it will not be collected.

If you signed up for a permit last year, please do not remove the permit from your bin before 31 March 2026 to enable your collections to continue.

Food waste will still be collected for free from your burgundy bin without a permit. Food waste caddies and burgundy bins are available by request on our website: https://orlo.uk/bin-requests_RXt4t

If you don’t want to buy a garden waste permit, here are some other ways to get rid of your garden waste:
• Book a slot at your local household waste and recycling centre: https://orlo.uk/book-a-slot_jFSmc
• Compost at home: https://orlo.uk/compost_KFedq
