Planning has been submitted to South Lanarkshire Council to build upon existing greenbelt and expand Hamilton’s homes south westwards towards East Kilbride.
The applicant is Cala Management Ltd who seek to further develop 171 hecatres of land to the south and west of Hamilton at Strathaven Road, Meikle Earnock Road and Highstonehall Road. The site is allocated as the Hamilton Community Growth Area and as housing land within the South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan 2 and is mostly open fields, though has some minor devlopment already taken place.
Remaining development proposals comprise of new housing, a neighbourhood centre, new community facilities, access roads, maintaining some open space and apporopriate landscaping.
