Maggie’s Lanarkshire is delighted to announce a unique and intimate afternoon of stand‑up comedy, magic and community spirit — all designed to raise vital funds for people affected by cancer across the region. Held within the warm and welcoming Maggie’s centre, the event will feature three much‑loved Scottish performers: Patrick Rolink from Airdrie, Graham Mackie from Govan, and comedian‑magician Chris Dinwoodie. All three are generously giving their time and talent to support the work of Maggie’s.
Lunch and a Laugh takes place at Maggie’s Lanarkshire (Airdrie) 2pm-5pm on Saturday 11th April.
Tickets for the afternoon are £25.00, with every penny raised directly supporting the free practical, emotional and psychological support Maggie’s provides to people living with cancer.
Guests can look forward to an intimate comedy experience with light audience interaction, the chance to share or write jokes, close‑up magic, and an atmosphere filled with warmth, fun, and connection. With Chris Dinwoodie joining the lineup, the afternoon promises to be not only full of laughter but also “a truly magical day” in every sense.
Comedian Patrick Rolink said:
“Expect plenty of laughter, some stories, and a really relaxed afternoon. When people share food and laughter together, something special happens — you connect, even with people you’ve never met before. I recently completed my prostate cancer treatment, so supporting Maggie’s is very personal to me. The team was there for me when I needed support, and doing this event is my way of giving something back. Laughter doesn’t take away the challenges people face, but it helps them cope. If we can lift someone’s spirits, even for a moment, then we’ve done something worthwhile.”
He added:
“We’re keeping things simple — just us, a lovely group of people, and an afternoon filled with kindness and humour. If guests leave feeling lighter, happier, or more connected, that will mean the world to us.”
Graham Mackie shared his thoughts as well, saying:
“What makes this event special is how personal and close‑up it is. You’re not sitting far away — you’re right there with us, part of the moment. People might even share a joke themselves, and that makes it a real community experience. I’ve had two strokes and a long recovery, so I understand how important support is. Maggie’s provides comfort, calm and kindness at a time when people need it most. Supporting that work is something I’m proud to do.”
He continued:
“I’ve met many people who walked into Maggie’s feeling overwhelmed and walked out feeling supported. It really is a lifeline. If our humour can play even a small part in helping keep those services going, then that’s something we’re honoured to contribute to.”
Maggie’s Lanarkshire is proud to be supported by CF Furniture and Flooring, a valued local business that has stepped forward as an event sponsor. Their generosity is helping to bring this special afternoon to life and will make a meaningful difference to people affected by cancer. The team at Maggie’s would also be delighted to welcome a few more local business sponsors to help make the event an even greater success.
The Centre Head at Maggie’s Lanarkshire said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Patrick, Graham and Chris for bringing their humour, compassion and talent to Maggie’s — and to CF Furniture and Flooring for being early supporters of this special event. Laughter and magic bring people together, and this afternoon will not only be joyful but will also directly support our work helping people affected by cancer in Lanarkshire. We would be delighted to welcome additional local businesses as sponsors.”
