At long last, the eyesore of Jimmy Saville’s cottage at Glencoe, has finally been demolished.
The cottage at Allt‑na‑Reigh in Glencoe has been reduced to rubble after years of decay, graffiti and vandalism and of course has not been without controversy.
It’s been a long standing blight on what is one of the most scenic parts of this whole country. Subject to many campaigns to remove it altogether. Driving past this empty site now feels like something “unwanted” has been corrected. Swept away. A solitary track now leading to just a pile of insignificant rubble.
The vacant site, currently integrated as part of the beautiful landscape could still have some hope for something new and permanent, which benefits walkers and climbers and the immediate community.
