Its the Summer Solstice. The Longest day of the year.
Today, Sunday 21st June marks the official start of astronomical summer across the northern hemisphere. And what a lovely day to start Summer!
The solstice took place at 09:24 BST on 21 June – this moment the northern hemisphere is most tilted towards the Sun.
It means we’re now officially in the second half of the year with the nights now expected to draw in slightly at around 2-3 minutes shorter each evening. But don’t worry! It’s not even July yet with Summer months ahead.
