TV Personality Bill Oddie (85) has died

It’s with sadness we saw today that TV personality, Bill Oddie, has died at the age of 85.

For generations of Britons, Bill was far more than a television personality. He first became a household name through the much-loved comedy series The Goodies, bringing laughter to millions with his unique wit and unforgettable performances between 1970 and 1982.

Later, he inspired a whole new audience through his passion for wildlife, becoming one of Britain’s best-loved naturalists and presenters on programmes including Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Birding with Bill Oddie.

His enthusiasm for birds and the natural world encouraged countless people to look a little closer at the wildlife around them, helping to inspire a lifelong appreciation of conservation and the environment. Whether making us laugh or teaching us about nature, Bill had a remarkable ability to entertain, educate and inspire.

Tributes have been pouring in today, celebrating a life dedicated to comedy, broadcasting and protecting the natural world. His influence will be felt for many years to come.

Our thoughts are with Bill’s wife Laura, his daughters, family, friends and the many fans whose lives he touched.

A little bit of nostalgia has vanished today. A little bit of 70s and 80s memories around the TV. Rest in peace, Bill Oddie. Thank you for the laughter, the memories and for all you did to help protect nature. 🌿🕊️
