It was one of those rare, life moments when most people remember where they were. On the morning of 11 September 2001, hijacked passenger aircraft were flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington. A fourth aircraft, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers and crew fought back against the hijackers.
In total, 2,977 victims lost their lives, not including the 19 hijackers. Among those killed were hundreds of firefighters, police officers and other emergency personnel who rushed towards danger while thousands of others desperately tried to escape.
Twenty-five years may have passed, but the images and stories from that terrible day remain deeply etched in the memories of millions around the world. Today, we remember every innocent life taken, those who went to work or boarded a flight that morning and never returned home, and the families whose lives were changed forever.
We also remember the extraordinary courage of the emergency services and ordinary people who helped complete strangers during unimaginable circumstances.
Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when you first heard the news on 11 September 2001?
🕯️ Remembering the 2,977 lives lost. 25 years on, they are not forgotten.

Thanks for your posting Paul.
There is a generation who know or feel little to nothing of the horrible murder of so many innocent souls on that sun filled morning in New York City.
There will be more tragedies coming. It is a matter of time.
Here in USA, we have those who embrace the same ideology infiltrating our political structure, openly hating the country they were raised in and saying USA deserved 9/11.
They can do this here because we allow complete freedom of speech. Something not tolerated in the countries from which they came.
All done in the name of an ideology and hatred for the USA.
This sick ideology has threatened civilized western nations for centuries, if not millennia.
It is happening in Europe also. I just hope USA will not be as tolerant as UK and most of Europe.
NEVER FORGET 9/11 and the ideology that perpetrated it.
