Barnardo’s is inviting local residents to learn more and have their say on proposals to develop five Gap Homes in Blantyre.
The project, which is still at an early stage, aims to provide young people with a safe and supportive environment where they can build confidence, independence and everyday living skills, while having trusted support close at hand.
Plans currently propose four self-contained homes for young people, alongside a separate house for staff who would provide support 24 hours a day.
Two public engagement sessions will take place on Wednesday 7 October at Blantyre Life, 90 Park Lane, Blantyre, G72 9AS:
📍 2pm – 3pm
📍 6pm – 7pm
Representatives from Barnardo’s will explain more about the Gap Homes project, discuss options for the proposed development and outline what happens next. Local residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
The site has been approved in principle, subject to the necessary land and planning approvals. However, no detailed design has yet been finalised and no planning application has been submitted.
Feedback gathered during the sessions will help shape the detailed proposal before it progresses further.
📧 To help Barnardo’s plan numbers and refreshments, anyone wishing to attend is asked to register by emailing GapHomes@barnardos.org.uk.
