Blantyre remembers

Blantyre came together today at 3pm for well-attended Remembrance services at High Blantyre Cemetery and Auchentibber War Memorial.

With several organisations represented, both gatherings reflected a real community effort to honour those who gave their lives and all who served. Across the generations, local families have carried the loss of loved ones whose futures were sacrificed in the hope of a more peaceful world.

Today was a moment to pause, reflect and remember the courage of our ancestors, the hardships they endured and the loved ones who waited at home.

Although prior commitments sadly prevented us from attending, we arranged in advance for our wreaths to be placed at Auchentibber War Memorial and later at High Blantyre Cemetery, on behalf of all our readers.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise, took part in and attended today’s services, keeping remembrance alive in our community. Special thanks to the Community Council for putting on refreshments, to Cath at Bitta Bling for making our wreaths and of course to our wonderful Supporters Group for their continued support for community good causes.

To all those who gave their lives in wars. We will remember them. Lest we forget.
