Author Abi Elphinstone visited High Blantyre Primary School to celebrate the opening of their new library, made possible by a £3,000 donation from the HFD Charitable Foundation, represented by Lauren McKenzie. The event highlighted the efforts of the Parent Council and the community’s commitment to supporting education.
Students at Blantyre’s Calderside Academy showcased their baking talents in Miss Girvin’s Home Economics class, creating a variety of Easter treats. The projects had a festive theme, highlighting the pupils’ skills and creativity in the kitchen. Their impressive work exemplified a delightful celebration of the Easter season through baking.
As Easter holidays near, South Lanarkshire Schools will close at 2.30pm on Friday, April 4th, 2025, allowing children a break for a couple of weeks. Wishing all students a fantastic holiday and hoping families enjoy quality time together. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025.
South Lanarkshire Council will raise school meal prices starting in April 2025. At Calderside Academy, the meal deal will cost £2.83 from 22 April 2025.
Children from Auchinraith Primary School enjoyed a week-long trip to Abernethy, Perth & Kinross, where they learned life skills and engaged in outdoor adventures. The experience fostered friendship and immersion in nature, with favorable weather contributing to their enjoyment. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable trip for everyone involved.

In response, affiliated organizations such as High Blantyre Primary School are also seeking alternative social media platforms for communication, while maintaining a closed page on ‘x’ temporarily for updates.
John Ogilvie High School experienced a blend of emotions as pupils and teachers bid farewell to Andy Flynn, who has tirelessly promoted the efforts of @StAndrewHospice for many years. His dedication has created lasting memories. The school wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
