The fair in Blantyre starts this week behind the Sports Centre off Glasgow Road. Organised by Funtastic Events, it runs Thursday and Friday from 6pm-9pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1pm. Entry and parking are free, offering four days of Easter holiday fun.
John Anderson’s funeral will take place on Friday, April 24th, at 1pm at Blantyre Old Parish Church, followed by burial at High Blantyre Cemetery at 2pm. The Blantyre community has shown tremendous support for Daniel Dixon over six years, culminating in a successful fundraiser that raised £21,030. Special thanks were given to organizers Andy and Leanne Rankin, numerous local businesses, photographers, host Lewis Wilson, and Daniel’s mother, Debbie, for their contributions and efforts.
Margaret Montgomery, a local woman who passed away on March 26 at the age of 76, will be honored in a funeral service tomorrow, April 13, at 1.15pm at Smiths Funeral Directors. The committal will follow at Priestfield Cemetery, High Blantyre at 2pm. Condolences are extended to her family.
Harriet Gardens, a £3 million housing village in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, has opened to support homelessness. Designed to house 15 residents in individual “nest homes,” it offers shared amenities like a gym and kitchen. This second Scottish village of its kind was developed by Social Bite and South Lanarkshire Council.
