New Penalty Charges for Pavement Parking in South Lanarkshire
South Lanarkshire Council is transitioning from issuing warnings to enforcing penalty fines for parking violations. Over 2,000 warnings have been given, and now motorists parking on pavements, drop kerbs, or double parking will face £100 fines, reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days. Enforcement begins this week.
Blantyre’s Budget Cuts: A Community’s Struggle
South Lanarkshire Council’s £55m budget for 2025/26 allocates only £236k to Blantyre, primarily for changing room renovations at Priory Playing fields. In contrast, other towns receive substantial funding for major projects.
