A planning hearing took place this morning, (June 9th 2015) with South Lanarkshire Council to hear concerns about a proposed new wind mast being erected in Blantyre. After the hearing today and despite very best efforts by a 450 strong protest group, it looks like the wind mast at 50m, (a precursor for the larger wind turbine), has been approved by planning. The mast is now scheduled to be erected near Loanend Cottages, Flemington in Greenbelt space on the edge of Blantyre. It paves the way for a larger mast , this time with a wind turbine, although that structure is still subject to separate planning approval at a later date.
The protest group are known to be disappointed in the decision, and ready for the challenges ahead..
