M74 Speed Cameras set to go live

Average-speed-cameraLocal residents are urged to take heed….From Monday, the average speed cameras will start operating between junction three, Carmyle, and junction six, Hamilton, of the M74 on both sides of the carriageway. The yellow cameras, all sighted in visible positions, will be rolled out at other locations over the coming months.

With (non enforcing) testing nearing completion. The permanent Cameras  will be switched on in the early hours of Monday 20th July 2015 with fines imposed on any vehicle breaching the speed limits.

This is a safety feature we’ll probably see more on UK roads. Transport Scotland commented, “We’ve already seen the very clear safety benefits that average speed cameras have had by helping to enforce speed limits on the A9.”

Have your say. How do you feel about so many speed cameras in our area?
