Blantyre Community Committee, a few weeks ago launched a campaign to seek out people within our community, (adults or children) who deserved to switch on the entire town’s Christmas lights. This fabulous competition attracted many entries and after careful consideration of all the community nominations, we’ve now decided upon not just one winner, but FOUR amazing winners!
All are children, 2 of whom are from the same family. Their stories touched us emotionally when reading through the emailed nominations and we won’t dwell on the tough times they’ve had this year. Looking forward to smiles, fun and excitement, we feel they are all very worthy winners to stand on our stage and have the honour to light up Blantyre on the big day!

You guys will be up on stage on 29th November 2015 and will get to press the BIG RED BUTTON which will switch on all of Glasgow Road’s Streetlights! The button will also light up the beautiful lights on the Stonefield Park Christmas tree, which was arranged by our Committee.
Santa will be on stage beside you and don’t worry about a thing, we’ll be right there to make sure it ALL goes smoothly. We also plan on a wee momento of the day for each of you and of course PLENTY of photos for local newspapers! Thank you to everybody who entered the competition. It’s going to be awesome!
