It’s the end of an era for a popular local building on Broompark Road. The old brick building, John Carrigans Pub, (formerly Larkfield Bar, Manhatten, Finbars, Eddie Collins Bakery and Supermarket) is now down and demolished (including the back part of the building which dated back to the 19th Century)
This is of course to make way for the 2nd phase of the new “Carrigans Blantyre” development. The first third of the new building is already open in the form of the restaurant, lounge and coffee house. The demolition of the old pub paves the way for the remaining 2/3rds of the project to progress, namely the creation of a state of the art beautiful pub and function venue, which is expected to be open later in the year.
We’re sure many people will have fond memories of the old building over the last few decades and hopefully you’ll join us in wishing the Carrigan family all the very best for the next phase of their building, which is truly putting Blantyre back on the map.
We’ll be bringing you a news update direct from the owners in due course.
