The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of the 3rd Blantyre Scout Group have recently formed a new partnership with the Trussell Trust Foodbank in Hamilton.
Throughout March and April, all sections of the Scouting group were visited by a speaker from the foodbank and the organisations were presented with some facts on why the foodbank services are so important and needed. The talk resulted in the Scouting Group visiting the foodbank for themselves to see what happens there and how volunteers form the much needed parcels.
Christopher McCrory of the 3rd Blantyre Scout Group commented: “Both nights were very educational and enjoyable and all participants had a great time. Over the next year, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will collect specific items as directed by the foodbank and it is hoped that the group will be able to plug any shortfalls in stock each month. The 3rd Blantyre Scout Group would like to thank Isobel Graham of the Trussell Trust’s Hamilton and District Foodbank for her assistance with this initiative. If any members of the public have any items to donate, then please feel free to drop them in to us on the section nights for delivery at the end of each month.”
