29665415_340668123121203_7703163612946829878_oFresh from their Blantyre Oscars success last week, ‘Bonnie Blantyre’ in conjunction with ‘Blantyre Community Council’ have launched a fantastic competition, incredibly involving all of Blantyre’s school children!

Morrison Construction has contributed £350 in sponsorship towards this year’s Bonnie Blantyre Primary Schools Sunflower Growing competition, where more than 1,000 pupils are taking part. SGN also contributed £150 and Gavin Watson undertook the printing requirements.

The collective sponsorship will go towards funding the competition between pupils from the five Blantyre primary schools ….the winner being WHO will strive to grow the tallest sunflower!!

The competition provides pupils with a sunflower growing kit that includes a small pot, compost, two sunflower seeds and growing instructions. First, second and third prizes will be given out at each of the five local schools taking part in the competition.

Kids should now have their sunflower packs.

Morrison Construction Operation’ Director Stephen Slessor said: ‘‘At Morrison Construction we’re proud to give back to the communities that we work and live in. This spring-time competition seemed like a great way to support the Blantyre community and we look forward to seeing the results.’’

Blantyre Community Council Vice Chair Dr Susan Lindner-Kelly said: ‘‘We’re grateful to Morrison Construction for their support helping to fund the Bonnie Blantyre Primary Schools Sunflower Growing competition. Hundreds of sunflowers will soon be seen growing across the Blantyre region as primary pupils take part. Good luck to all of the competitors.’’

With kind thanks to Morrison Construction, SGN, Gavin Watson , Bonnie Blantyre and Blantyre Community Council.
