Residents to form Steering Committee and develop a five-year community action plan
Blantyre residents passionate about the future of their local community are invited to attend an open public meeting on Tuesday 28th August 2018 at Priestfield Senior Citizen’s Hall, High Blantyre to launch a Coalfields Community Futures initiative.
The initiative from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, with a mission to champion and strengthen coalfield communities, generate resources to respond to their needs and deliver programmes to make a positive and lasting difference will give residents a say in how the area develops over the next five years.
The programme will provide hands on support to help a steering group develop a community action plan to identify projects in need locally over the next five years. There will also be advice for local community groups, with a participatory budget of £20,000 split between the chosen projects.
The open meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th August 2018 from 7pm at the Priestfield Senior Citizen’s Hall and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust is inviting Blantyre residents and community groups to attend and join the steering group who will take the programmes forward.
Nicky Wilson, Trustee from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust said: “The open meeting offers Blantyre residents a fantastic opportunity to join the Steering Committee that will plan for the future of the area. We look forward to welcoming as many interested residents and community groups as possible to attend.
“Coalfields Regeneration Trust has delivered this successful initiative over the past 7 years, in over 40 mining communities. We’ve seen a wide range of projects developed across Scotland and we look forward to helping community groups in Blantyre develop their plans to strengthen the opportunities available for residents.”
