Over 110 people attended the busy meeting at Priestfield Hall intent on hearing and sharing ideas as to how Blantyre can be approved.

Many local community groups were in the room also, as well as representatives of local business, Councillors and indeed many individuals. The purpose was to form a steering group, including ideally people of all ages to determine how funding of £20,000 can be distributed.

A good selection of people put their own names forward to be part of the steering group, which will, following a survey and collecting good ideas, will focus on the most deserving projects. The meeting, one of the largest community meetings Coalfields have ever attended, lasted just over an hour and raised many questions and much discussion. Further meetings will of course be necessary.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is a registered charity that works across the former Coalfield communities of England, Wales and Scotland. The Charity was founded in 1999.

We hope to bring you a survey link and more about the applicants, the process and of course just what this means for Blantyre in the near future.
