At the request of concerned residents, today we’re highlighting a parking issue at Stonefield Park Gardens in Blantyre, not far from the Station Road junction with Glasgow Road.
Although parking here is not illegal, parking availability in this cul-de-sac is extremely limited and required for residents of the Sheltered Housing complex, their visitors and carers. However, it’s often used by people visiting shops on Glasgow Road or Station Road and on some occasions by workers and staff in nearby businesses, occupying the few parking places for most of the day.
It’s come to our attention also that carers and visitors sometimes cannot drop off sheltered housing residents in a particularly safe or convenient place. Additionally double parking on both sides of the road, sometimes blocks pavements partially and potentially makes it difficult for ambulance or emergency services to access the area.
We’re sure anybody reading this will give this some thought in future. The limitations of nearby Station Road parking is understood by many but perhaps as caring members of the community, we should all be considerate enough to support the elderly residents nearby, by seeking alternative parking. Thanks.
