The Haven, a registered charity which provides support to people affected by a range of life limiting illness and to their family members and carers and supports people across the whole of North and South Lanarkshire through its centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth , are aiming to take their biggest team ever to Kiltwalk Glasgow and they are asking for your help to achieve this!
Raising vital funds for families facing the challenges of living with life limiting illness or bereavement, people from all over Lanarkshire will be walking in aid of The Haven at one of Scotland’s highest profile charity events, the Kiltwalk, in Glasgow which is taking place Sunday 28thApril.
To sustain and grow these free support services, fundraising events like the Kiltwalk are vital to helping The Haven offer a programme of support which is designed to help individuals cope with the physical, emotional and practical aspects of their illness in a calming non-clinical environment.
Lynsay Cooper, Haven Communications Officer said: “The Kilkwalk is a hugely important event in The Haven’s fundraising calendar and we hope that with your help 2019 can be our most successful year to date. With the Hunter Foundation pledging to top up the totals raised by each entrant by an incredible forty percent, we as a charity are working hard to break our target of talking 125 to the upcoming Glasgow event.
“With three walk options – The Wee Wander (approx 6 miles), The Big Stroll (approx 15 miles) and The Mighty Stride (approx 23 miles) – there is something for everyone and we urge you to get involved and support The Haven and help families in our local community.”
As the Glasgow Kiltwalk event gets closer, there is no better encouragement than words from those who have walked before. A past member of Team Haven said: “It was amazing to represent such a local, worthy cause. You will not regret taking part!”
If you cannot make Glasgow there are three other Kiltwalk events that you can take part in. The dates of the 2019 Kiltwalks are as follows:
Aberdeen – 2ndJune
Dundee – 18thAugust
Edinburgh – 15thSeptember
The Haven aims to alleviate physical and emotional distress by supporting clients and their families to live life positively with hope, by providing information and support at all stages of illness.
