Emergency services responded this morning when a car at Calderside Nursery Carpark caught fire.
Shortly before 8am today, Wednesday 01 May 2019, the car was seen with smoke coming from it and calls were made for the fire service who promptly responded.
The resulting smoke could be seen from as far away as the Village and High Blantyre. The fire was extinguished just after 8am and the fire service packed up by 8.30am, just as the school run was getting busier.
This follows a day after a car was deliberately set fire in Hamilton, although there is no suggestion that this was related. Nobody was injured and the area was closed off for public safety once the fire fighters arrived.
