Hundreds of people were thrilled this afternoon to attend the family day out at the annual Crossbasket Castle Fair in High Blantyre.
Held from midday until 4pm today, Sunday 21 July 2019, the approach roads were busy with over 150 parked cars lining the driveway and at Greenhall. Hundreds of people enjoyed the varied market with dozens of fantastic local vendors set up outside the historic 15th Century building. The rain stayed off and the ice cream van was busy.
Children’s inflatables and small mechanical rides were popular as was the BBQ at the Grand Hall at the back. The Castle also opened its doors with people able to visit the halls, library, bar, terraces and riverside walks around the well tended gardens.
Crossbasket was renovated to a luxury standard during the last decade and is now a luxury, five star hotel and restaurant. This years fete, certainly looked to be their most popular and well attended.
