Young Volunteer of the Year

Blantyre Community Committee are celebrating this evening after discovering that their youngest member has been shortlisted by Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire as “Young Volunteer of the Year!”

Committee member, Lewis Watt (7), a Blantyre pupil thoroughly deserves the nomination. He’s such a grafter and could be seen at the recent gala weekend and other Committee events volunteering to carry chairs for guests, litterpicking and even manning some of the stalls, all without grumble or complaint!

Lewis has initiative too! Upon seeing how hot it was, Lewis came up with the idea of creating a “dog station” putting out water and food to help make the gala more pet friendly.

His likeable personality, drive to work hard, friendliness, positivity and desire to please others is infectious. EXACTLY what the dedicated committee of volunteers need to put on such impressive events!

The Shortlist for Young Volunteer of the Year, in no particular order are:

Evan McKill
Lewis Watt
Cailean Stillie

Well done Lewis! Congratulations to all the finalists!
